FAITH - THE MIRACULOUS HEALER

His deep, sunken eyes closed in solace as he sat in a corner of the temple, his trembling hands folded in reverence to the God that he so loved. The chiming of the bells, the cacaphony of the traffic on the street outside and the steady stream of devotees jostling for a vision of the Diety, none could interrupt the profound connection that he instantly bridged with the Lord to whom he always came running to in times of distress.   He could instantly feel the calmness seeping in his mind and heart now in contrast to that horrible feeling of a gaping hole in his chest, like a hollow ring of fire burning like hell and that pain, so sharp, that it would rip the heart into pieces, that darkness of the soul, ready to suck in his every little happiness that he felt a little while ago. He now felt freed from the desire of death that he so mistakenly felt that would give him freedom from life. Pain - Speak.

Pain speaks a dark language in silence. Sometimes it conveys what words can never express. One of life's most important realisations is that no pain is too big. There are millions of other humans doomed by their destiny and cursed by their fate. The stark and stoic realities of the lives of others in distress touch the raw nerves of our own soul. Years back, one day,  I happened to visit an orphanage. I was not in the best of my moods -  depressed and not so happy with the Vagaries of life and it's circumstances. The orphanage -  an old British era home, was filled with noises of kiddish chatter. A little girl around 6 - 7 years old sitting in a corner of a room caught my eye. She was staring into the oblivion - no where. The hollowness of her little sunken eyes devoid of even a tiny speck of a sparkle spoke of the immense suffering inside her heart. She wasn't deaf or dumb, I learnt that she had barely spoken a word since she was brought to the home for the kids. My eyes...
